1Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council lays down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (AI) and aims to improve the functioning of the internal market, to promote the uptake of human-centric and trustworthy AI, while ensuring a high level of protection of health, safety and fundamental rights and supporting innovation. 2Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 entered into force on 1 August 2024. 3The entry into application of its provisions is staggered, with all rules entering into application by 2 August 2027.
